Ready for Adoption

Here are some pictures and emailed information about a possible new source for us. Please be aware - These hounds are NOT currently available for adoption. We are simply looking at the possibility.

These are photos of "Wadi Dogs" that were sent to us from Oman

The first email from Oman:

"We are a small dog rescue organization, run by a group of volunteers in Muscat, Oman. Our aim is to rescue, rehabilitate and rehome the injured and abandoned dogs of Oman. The local breed of dog here is known locally as "Wadi dogs" and is a type of mixed breed sight hound - many have Saluki like features. Wadi dogs have a very difficult life on the streets of Oman, they are feared by many resulting in abuse, or they are run over by cars or shot by the authorities as a way of controlling the stray dog population. Consequently, local adoption rates are low and we rely on adoption groups abroad to help us find the loving homes our dogs all deserve.

We currently work with a number of greyhound groups across the USA and Canada and are reaching out to you at this time because we have had somebody contact us, who is flying to Seattle on the 28th June, and has offered to take some dogs along on their ticket. We appreciate that the 28th June is just a few weeks away so not much notice to give but if there is a chance of one or two of our dogs leaving Oman for a better chance of finding their forever home in the USA, we would be so grateful!!"

Homes for Hounds is currently out of dogs and it is unclear when we can get a shipment. Rest assured, we will find a new source, but for the time being, please be patient and check back regularly for any new announcements.

"Re-Homed" Hounds
In our adoption contracts there is a portion that states if you can no longer keep your hound, you must return him to HOMES FOR HOUNDS. We do not care what age or under what circumstances the hound is returned. There is the right home for every greyhound available for adoption. Our rehomed hounds are very easy to place.
